Relationships
Main Description

Get a clear and unambiguous understanding of the current high level business processes in scope. This task is usually the starting point for this activity. The other tasks are usually performed iteratively. Business processes are associated with business activities and the information exchanged between activities. Process models are typically hierarchical in nature. The process models capture the activities performed in a business process, and the inputs, outputs, and resources used in those activities. Process models are often referred to as Activity: Models. The As-Is Process model is typically made up out of three deliverables:

  • Process Hierarchy - that describes the hierarchical decomposition of processes;
  • Process Flows - that describe how processes are linked together using control flows;
  • Process Definitions - that describe the purpose, logic and other significant process attributes.

The granularity of the process models are determined in the Focus And Direction phase. The right level gives insight in the way the business enables the company to deliver the products and services to its customers.

Business Requirements regarding the As-Is Business Processes are elicited and documented only if they are not yet documented in the existing Business Requirements Catalogue. .
